Beginning your IPA journey? Start with your recruitment model

The question is: how do you build a team to deliver automation during a time when the talent pool is so tight?

The four approaches to building a team

People are key to success in any industry. Yet the process of recruiting the right talent can be costly in terms of both time and money. As such, it’s important to get it right the first time around. If you don’t know where to begin, worry not! We’ve summarised the top four ways to build a successful team… 

  1. Permanent team recruitment 

Before you begin building a team of tech specialists, it’s essential that you start from the top with an experienced lead to help run and manage your projects. Hiring from the bottom up can slow you down, which is why we recommend that you first secure leaders with proven experience of assisting projects on a permanent basis. 

If you simply don’t have the skills internally to manage your projects right now, then you’ll need to look externally. Hiring in fresh talent from outside will ensure you hit the ground running and avoid common mistakes from day one. The trick is sourcing someone who has been there and done that – someone with the expertise to take your project and run with it. 

  1. Contract-to-perm hiring 

Next up is what’s known as ‘contract-to-perm’ or ‘temp-to-perm’ hiring. As the name suggests, contract-to-perm is when a business hires both contractors and permanent employees. A contractor team comes first, handling the initial phases of a project. Meanwhile, a more permanent resource is hired. This ensures that when the transition phase eventually happens, your business will have a team that can take over your projects without delay. 

While contractors are certainly an excellent choice for many projects, it’s important to remember that the hiring process begins all over again when their contract ends. That is, of course, unless you have a permanent team of experts in place who know your organisation inside out. 

  1. Partnering with a specialist

While the current talent pool of experienced candidates is relatively small, finding the right people for your business shouldn’t have to feel like an uphill battle. Struggling to source those new team members? Partnering with a leading talent provider will give you access to the most sought-after candidates on the market.  

A talent services provider will take full responsibility for your hiring, removing a lot of the strain off your organisation and giving you more time to focus on what you do best.   1. A skilled mix of local and remote resources 

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, remote working has become the new norm. In addition to hiring local resources who can work on-site (whether they’re internal or external staff), businesses across the globe have begun hiring experts from overseas to supplement additional workloads. 

As most of the workforce is still working from home over one year into the pandemic, hiring international talent shouldn’t feel too dissimilar. It could even save your business time and money in the long run – especially if you work with a specialist.
